General

LifeSync is based on 3 decades of Dr. Schwartz’s research in 49 countries with 53,000 people.   Free lists are just random selections of things you may value; and you could value almost anything.  Check out the research.

Your LifeSync Values Map shows how your basic human values motivate your life choices.  A free list of values?  Nope.

To be valuable, the insights from an exercise or course need to stick and upgrade the way you live.  The LifeSync Core Values System does exactly that–make em stick.   How?  Through subconscious strengthening.

We strongly believe in the phrase, “Mastery of Life is Mastery of Self”.  A big part of self mastery is knowing yourself deeply and honestly.   Basic human values are central to fully understanding you.

LifeSync will show your most central values and how they motivate you.  You’ll gain a much greater understanding of why your relationships, career, hobbies, and friendships are the way they are or reasons why they’re not working for you.

By completing the LifeSync Core Values System, you’ll strengthen your subconscious understanding of your core values and motivations.  Then your future life choices are MUCH more likely to be CONSISTENT and ALIGNED with what your inner self truly desires.  Show me greater peace and fulfillment!

Want to argue less?!  Understand your partner at a deeper level?   It’s unusual for a couple to have all their core values aligned.  We’re deliciously diverse humans!  But no need to call a therapist…

LifeSync for couples will show you your aligned and opposed core values.  Once you know this, both of you can have more compassion for your differences.  Then you can come up with strategies to make space for each other’s beautiful values as they show up in your lives together.

Values & Motivation

Schwartz theory concerns the basic or core values that people in all cultures recognize.

Schwartz defines values as desirable, trans-situational goals, varying in importance, that serve as guiding principles in people’s lives.

Over 3 decades of research in 49 countries with 53,000 people, Dr. Schwartz found that there are 19 values that are common to almost all humans.   He called these ‘basic human values’.

Core values is a commonly used term that can have different meanings depending on who you are and what you’ve been exposed to.

We use the words “basic human values” and “core values” on this site to help increase understanding of these important concepts.

Dr. Schwartz shared with us that, in his leading academic view, all personal values that are not included in his 19 basic human values list are extensions of one or more of those 19 values.   Ie.  You may highly value “family”, which is an extension of the basic human values of Benevolence (Caring) and Security (Personal).

ALL basic human values are good.  Some values may have negative connotations, but that’s just what society has concluded or taught you.

Every one of the 19 basic human values in Professor Schwartz’s model is needed in our diverse society.

The truth is that living AUTHENTICALLY and in CONSISTENT ALIGNMENT with your basic human values is very important for you to enjoy life more while having the biggest impact.

Yes and no.

Your core values were formed over the course of your life experience from the earliest age.

However just like you’re constantly evolving as you travel through life, so too can your values.

In one study, Dr. Schwartz and his colleagues showed that core values were stable in 60% of people over 8 years.

Dr. Schwartz writes, “as central aspects of self, basic values tend to resist change.”

LifeSync clients gain lifetime access to the Core Values System so if you’re interested in seeing if your values have changed in the future, log on!

YES.

“Although many factors typically influence any specific behavior, values are often an important contributing factor.”   (Schwartz 2012, Handbook of Values, Oxford Press)

“Experiments show that values influence behavior more strongly when people have previously thought about tangible or typical applications of those values.” (Schwartz 2012, Handbook of Values, Oxford Press)

“Values influence most if not all motivated behavior, though people are often unaware of this influence.”   (Schwartz 2012, Handbook of Values, Oxford Press)

If you’re like us, and if you desire to live more intentionally, WE WANT TO BE AWARE.

This is interesting:  “Value-based assessments of potential choices typically occur outside conscious awareness.”  (Schwartz 2012, Handbook of Values, Oxford Press)

What if we could do better than that?

What if through LifeSync you could now make most of your value based decisions consciously?   That’s the goal, and hopefully what the Core Value System delivers for you.

YES.  People’s values are central to their identities and concepts of self (Hitlin 2003: Rokeach 1973).

Either CONSISTENTLY or INCONSISTENTLY.

Your inner being knows your core values, but your conscious, rational brain often forgets or is overly influenced by your ego resulting in you making life choices that are NOT aligned with your core values.   When this happens, it most often feels like a dull ache somewhere in your body.   You know you don’t like this situation or that person, but you’re not sure exactly why.

We designed the LifeSync Core Value System to provide clarity on your core values, but more importantly to strengthen your subconscious understanding of those values and how they motivate you.  Now you can, fairly automatically, begin to CONSISTENTLY make life choices that are ALIGNED with what your inner being truly wants.  Next level fulfillment!

How important is all this to life planning, intentional living, and life mastery?   Well, CONSISTENT, ALIGNED life choices for your career, relationships, hobbies, personal growth, living area, family dynamics, or impact on the world that allow you to thrive, feel energized and vanquish the energy vampires caused by misalignment seem pretty important.

Activities or interactions based on values you both share (aligned values) are easy and satisfy you both.   It’s nice to know what these are so you can spot ways to satisfy these shared values more often.

Opposed values, or values that are in conflict with each other, are not a bad thing…IF you know about them!   Once you know which core values are in conflict, then you can reduce friction, arguments, and drama by making space for your partner to satisfy their core values that are opposed to yours.

Nice! Sounds Like Getting Clear On Both Your Core Values And Motivations Would Be Helpful.

Leading researchers in social psychology have shown that your motivations are driven by your core values AND, as a couple, your core values are likely to be different. So?

If you understand your core values and motivation differences there’s probably no issue.

When you don’t have clarity on those differences, look out! You’ll run into each other much more often than necessary and not really know why.
